Organisational Resilience = Leadership Well-being? Creating healthy eco systems in HE from inside out

The aim of this project to explore the emerging needs of leadership resilience and well-being in the HE context.

We have heard from our members and the wider higher education community through our Leadership Survey that the well-being and resilience of leaders and their teams are becoming increasingly important issues. With external pressures increasing, many managers and leaders find themselves struggling with their role in supporting their team's well-being.

This project explores in more detail the needs emerging in the current higher education context in relation to leadership resilience and well-being. We are offering a workshop for a group of middle-level leaders and managers to share what we have learnt from the sector thus far and gather further insights to inform the most helpful approach to this important leadership arena in the future.

The Advance HE Leadership Survey for Higher Education – Survey Report

The Advance HE Leadership Survey for Higher Education – Survey Report provides a unique set of insights from both those who are leading and those who are led by them that helps to inform our collective understanding about leadership in the HE sector.

The report will be of interest to those who both lead individuals and organisations, as well as those who drive and devise strategies for people, organisations and performance.

Workshop

Date and time: Monday 17 July, 10:00 BST

This workshop explored the complexities of developing leadership resilience and well-being whilst operating at the middle leadership level. We shared some key findings from the leadership survey and consultative conversations pertaining to this.

We discussed how leaders could advocate well-being and resilience both at the individual and team levels through the lens of a socio-ecological model.

We invited the group to share their experiences and insights to inform the best practice in leadership resilience and well-being and to develop the support and interventions needed to improve and transform HE culture in this regard.

The members who are currently operating at the mid-leadership level, for example, heads of departments, directors of professional services, senior academic staff in leadership roles, etc participated in the webinar.
