Listening in: playing hard to understand student perspectives and ‘becoming’

Part of the Collaborative Development Fund 2023-24: Fit for the Future: Adapting practice for the new paradigms of higher education.

This project will lead to the creation, and evaluation of, an interactive game about the intersectionality of our students’ experiences. The core characters and story narratives will be built on real-world content and discussions, including those previously gathered as part of the QAA Enhancement Themes project podcast series, as well as the digital artefact that we created. Since there is a lack of clarity or agreed approaches for tackling “difficult conversations” between staff and students, the interactive aspect will invite the individual participant to feel closer to the characters and discussions as the game unfolds. True to the nature of the topics themselves, it proposes that everyone, even those who only hear of some of these stories as bystanders, is invited and encouraged to engage in these conversations. even with several new events and workshops taking place seemingly every year.
