Changing Positions: Dance and the FE-HE transition in the UK

A particular concern of this transition was the predominantly contemporary dance content of UK dance degrees. Therefore an on-line survey was conducted of level 3 dance programmes on offer in UK colleges and dance schools. This revealed the type of qualifications on offer but not the content as this is determined by teaching staff. Three case studies are presented to explore this concern and others that have arisen through the consideration of level 3 programmes on offer. The size of student cohorts programme delivery and assessment were also questioned in relation to dance students' transition. Changing Positions was initiated by SCODHE (Standing Conference on Dance in Higher Education) in conjunction with PALATINE and funded by a PALATINE Development Award.
