Long stay International Students' experiences of the multicultural campus; choices and trajectories

A presentation from the TIS International Conference - Internationalisation of Pedagogy and Curriculum in Higher Education: Exploring New Frontiers June 2011.

This presentation looks at how staff can foster a sense of interdependence among multicultural student groups from an early stage in order to legitimise the different roles and to engage UK-based peers as cultural and linguistic collaborators so that cultural learning is not just perceived as a one-way street.

The emphasis is rooted in a subject specific approach helping students to increase their awareness of teamwork skills but it is hoped that this will form the basis for further critical reflection on their own cultural influences.
