A major attrition point for female clinical researchers is the transition from PhD to postdoctoral research. This is a critical career stage, with the majority returning to the NHS. Together with The Royal Marsden, the ICR has built a sustainable career pipeline of academic clinicians, and the introduced an internally-funded Clinician Scientist post in 2014/15, which increased women at postdoctoral level.
