Established in 2012, the cross-institution Academic Mentoring Scheme 'B-Mentor' was set up to provide BAME academics and research staff up to Lecturer level with a trained mentor from another institution to assist with their career progression. To date, 25 mentors and 17 mentees have participated from the institution. Some adjustments were made to the scheme after an evaluation after the first cohort took place, and in 2014 the scheme was shortlisted for 2 national awards: the ENEI Tapping into Talent award and the Race for Opportunity Developing Talent award.
