This dynamic presentation will showcase ‘theoretical theatre’ an innovative pedagogy for active learning which transforms teaching engages students and improves understanding. This pedagogy has been developed at UEA and is based on theories or concepts represented by characters (portrayed by lecturers) in semi-improvised scenarios. They interact to embody academic debates while making abstract concepts easier to grasp and motivating students to engage in their studies. The talk will present the latest developments of this award-winning teaching innovation and suggest a range of ways the idea can be adopted in any discipline.
