The Higher Education Academy in partnership with UKCISA funded twenty ‘Connections’ pilot projects in 2012 on the theme of internationalisation of learning and teaching. The projects aimed to make connections between different departments services and institutions and with local communities. They helped to support international students studying in the UK as well as encouraging UK students to take opportunities overseas and on their home campuses to be more internationally aware.
This project aimed to improve students’ global competitiveness and awareness by equipping them with the skills required for multi-cultural engagement (i.e. international communication) as well as seeking to identify the 'global skills' required by international employers.
