Developing the use of technologies to develop a community of practice for doctoral students studying across boundaries

This innovative pedagogical practice focuses on the use of technologies to engage learners in a community of practice across continents. The pedagogy has been developed through research. A range of technologies were explored and affordances of different technologies identified. Students reported a greater sense of community and inclusion a deeper level of learning and a faster pace of progression. The pedagogy recognises the need to develop our understanding of cultural and pedagogical differences when using technologies and  raises challenges beyond existing theoretical frameworks relating to technologies which support teaching and learning.
