A presentation from the Surveys for Enhancement Conference 2013.
This presentation focusses on a case study on Chinese undergraduate student engagement which utilized survey questionnaire (NSSE-China) interview and focus group methods to collect data and also functioned as a pilot for a larger comparative case study between UK and Chinese undergraduate students. The findings mainly cover the following aspects: students' response patterns to the survey their conceptualizations of 'student engagement' factors that influence their engagement and how these factors interact. The design and progression of the larger study including the development of a questionnaire instrument will be introduced as well.
