Exploring the causes of undergraduate non-submission at reassessment in a post-1992 school of Business and Law - HEA Annual Conference 2017 - Generation TEF: Teaching in the spotlight

The main aims of the research are to identify the causes of the non-submission of coursework and exams particularly at reassessment at a post-1992 School of Business and Law. The School has identified how high levels of non-submission at reassessment affects the linear progression of Business and Law students. The intent is to develop a better understanding of the causes of non-submission so that effective interventions can be made to support students at risk of non-submission and improve their progression. Hibbert (2015) identifies that our empirical understanding of the causes of attrition and poor retention within Business and Management Schools is still limited. This research addresses calls for more pedagogically oriented research in this area by exploring this key contributing factor
