Flexible Learning Pathfinders: a review of the pilots' final and interim reports

This review of the final and interim reports of the HEFCE-funded Flexible Learning Pathfinder (FLP) provides background information regarding the pathfinders before discussing the successes lessons learned and future challenges.

It finds that flexible learning is now more meaningful to learners as well as having support from employers and professional bodies. Sustainable flexibility has been demonstrated in a number of institutions such as through 'whole-year' teaching and the enhancement of student support and the extension of support to other types of learners. Challenges identified are twofold: the source of funding after the HEFCE funding ceases and the need to identify effective practice in the development and delivery.
