Game-based learning (or gamification) refers to the integration of gaming into learning experiences to increase engagement and motivation.

Games which are goal-oriented have strong social components and replicate real world experience are most effective as learning tools. Gamification refers to the use of a pedagogical system that was developed within gaming design but which is implemented within a non-game context.
