How can evidence inform my teaching practice and how can I gather this evidence?

This paper was presented at the 2008 Engineering Conference - Innovation Good Practice and Research in Engineering Education.

This workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to look at the role evidence plays in informing and enhancing teaching and learning within engineering. We will consider possible measures of success for a given context how this could enable us to develop evidence informed teaching and learning practices.

What am I doing well that supports student learning? Are there any areas which could be developed? How will you identify them and respond accordingly? How will you know how the changes made have impacted on your students’ learning experience?

A number of approaches to exploring your own teaching practices in relation to the students learning experiences will be demonstrated and participants will be asked to consider how these evidence gathering methods could relate to their own practice.
