The governing bodies of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) have a critical role in assessing institutional sustainability for the long term. The governing body approves the mission and strategic vision of the institution, its strategic plans, key performance indicators (KPIs) and annual budgets, and acts as a focus for ensuring that these work together in the interests of students and other stakeholders.
