As well as transferable skills graduate employers are often looking for relevant work experience. Going on an industrial placement can give you the edge when it comes to looking for employment. Find out what it available to you on your course the deadline by which you have to decide if you are taking a year in industry and if there are any minimum requirements your institution has before you are eligible to go on a placement (some ask for a minimum score on your first year exams).
