During 2009-10 a History lecturer investigated the possibility of developing a small-scale internationalisation project with a colleague at an American university. They had discovered that they taught a very similar module on Nineteenth-Century British Women's History and were keen to explore the possibility of working together in ways that were mutually enriching for both ourselves and their students. In the first instance this would involve students collaborating in some small way. They hoped that the collaboration might grow to include student and possibly staff exchanges.
Although this project was ultimately unsuccessful it is hoped that this study might still be helpful in terms of outlining a range of possibilities for international collaboration as well as some of the processes involved for colleagues who are operating in a more conducive environment.
