Journeys to Success – an investigation of the factors which impact positively on the academic attainment of Black and minority ethnic students at Roehampton University

In April 2009 Roehampton University was invited to join the HE Academy / Equality Challenge Unit National Summit Programme to investigate the issue along with 11 other universities.  Supported by academics linked to the Summit Programme each university developed a year-long project which reflected particular concerns identified in initial analysis of attainment data by ethnicity. At Roehampton University a small project team representing the Learning and Teaching Enhancement Unit (LTEU) the Students Union and the School of Arts set out to investigate through appreciative inquiry those factors which have contributed to the success of BME students in four discipline areas – Psychology History Computing and Education.
