This research explores the factors that influence the ‘student journey’ and the difficulties faced by some students in Scotland. Colleges and university undergraduates were surveyed along with students on postgraduate-taught programmes in a joint partnership project between the HEA and NUS Scotland. The research focuses on students’ choices for what to study transitions between different levels of education and their learning experiences and future plans.
The research highlights specific areas where developments could be made to support a fairer and more flexible student journey through better information advice and guidance as well as induction support and outside opportunities.
