Legal employability: Clinic CILEx and training reform: Threats and opportunities for Law Schools - HEA Annual Conference 2017 - Generation TEF: Teaching in the spotlight

The current proposals to reform how Solicitors and Barristers qualify will pose radical challenges for many Law Schools. This session will consider how they might respond in the light of our experience of clinical legal education and embedding CILEx qualifications into our degree. The session will comprise: (1) A presentation on two innovative linked projects (Legal Advice Clinic CILEx) undertaken at London South Bank University (LSBU). Together these projects aim to boost our law students’ confidence and employability and to provide high quality social welfare law advice to people on low incomes. (2) A facilitated roundtable discussion on the SRA’s ‘Training for Tomorrow’ (t4t) proposals seeking an exchange of ideas on how Law Schools might respond to the threats and opportunities presented by t4t
