The Meaningful Student Engagement project

The Higher Education Academy (HEA) Meaningful Student Engagement project supported ten institutions to take forward inclusive activity to focus on the engagement of disabled students. Ten institutions from England and Wales were selected to participate in the programme which ran from December 2010 to November 2011.

This report gives an overview of the activity undertaken by the institutions the evaluation undertaken locally by participating institutions and brings together emerging trends and recommendations applicable to the sector more widely.

The programme built on the work of a previous project Furthering the Involvement of Disabled Students led by the Higher Education Academy and Equality Challenge Unit from 2008-10. This project culminated in the report 'Strategic approaches to disabled student engagement' launched in June 2010 to help institutions develop strategic approaches to disabled student engagement.
