mental well-being and HE

Refers to the mental well-being of staff and students participating in the life of a HE provider.

Most HE providers have a framework for pastoral and counselling services within their communities. These are developed in partnership with students and external services such as the NHS. Student led initiatives to provide support for peers include services such as Nightline and the Alliance for Student-Led Wellbeing.

Recent initiatives apply a whole university approach which considers the social academic economic and environmental factors that affect health and mental well-being.
