NET 2018 Conference: Interprofessional learning interventions: Championing a lost cause?

Issues for debate paper

The People’s Academy launched at London South Bank University in 2015 is a collective of patients carers service users and sector professionals who aim to revolutionise health and social care through citizens collaborating and participating in advocacy and co-production of education research and innovation. While in theory most sign up to its principles there are many obstacles to ensuring its success within practice. Interprofessional education is one way to adopt the key principles of coproduction; enhancing patient outcomes through integrated working. We promote a shift away from interprofessional education that focuses on the needs of professionals towards its emphasis being to enable a first class service for users.
