The personal and the political in leadership: a story of immigration, students and targets

This paper explores the issue of immigration from a personal perspective and the impact of contemporary immigration policies on students, the economy and public benefit. This is a story that draws from my own experience of being a second generation migrant and as an institutional leader in the UK. I argue that leaders need to stay close to their values and speak up for a new approach and narrative for international students in the higher education sector.
