Student engagement in the context of commuter students - HEA Annual Conference 2017 - Generation TEF: Teaching in the spotlight

This workshop introduces and explores the findings of a TSEP study produced in partnership with Liz Thomas Associates. The study looks at ‘commuter students’ in a wider sense not restricted to those who live in the parental home.  It explores their experiences and how institutions respond to commuter students.  This is an applied research study which aims to develop practical understanding about the engagement of commuter students in higher education and how engagement can be enhanced by purposive actions of higher education providers (HEPs) and/or students’ unions (SUs).
