Teaching excellence: Conceptions and practice in the Humanities and Social Sciences - HEA Annual Conference 2017 - Generation TEF: Teaching in the spotlight

What does excellence in humanities and social science teaching look like?  This presentation outlines the key findings from a study commissioned by the British Academy that aims to identify excellence in the ways in which the humanities and social sciences are taught at UK universities. Drawing on a literature review interviews with key stakeholder organisations and selected case studies the study examines the some of the disciplinary aspects of teaching excellence and explores some of the definitional operational and strategic challenges facing the sector as it seeks to articulate and measure excellence.
