The Theatron 3 project was funded by Eduserv and led by King’s Visualisation Lab. The aim of the project was to create twenty theatres from different periods in history in the immersive virtual world Second Life with accompanying pedagogical content. Additional tools were developed to support exploration of and performance in these theatrical spaces.
This report details the outcomes of five pilot pedagogical projects that were created as subsidiaries to the main project. Their aim was to test the viability of Second Life as a medium for education in theatre studies and English literature. These projects were created at different institutions and coordinated by advisers from the HEA English and PALATINE (Dance Music and Drama) subject centres. Three were coordinated by PALATINE and two by the English subject centre.
