Contemplative pedagogy is an approach to education which encourages students to explore their subjective experience and make sense of new knowledge in relation to their values and sense of meaning. Contemplative approaches create space for students to meaningfully explore their internal world and to make sense of what they are learning in their own experience. In acknowledging the impact of learning on the mind and the heart students develop richer wiser relationships with their subject themselves and others and as a result are able to engage critically yet compassionately with the world around them enabling them to effect meaningful change.
