What the project is?
The vision of the University of Wolverhampton is:
‘To be the Opportunity University – renowned for our creativity and innovation – developing students and staff who are entrepreneurial eminently employable and well connected within a research and professionally informed environment’.
Part of the strategic approach has been the development of the University College of Learning and Teaching which will build on teaching excellence and in turn will support inclusivity, widening access, retention and equality and diversity.
The new College of Learning and Teaching will provide a central focus for the Vice-Chancellor’s Strategic Excellence Initiative. It will promote and drive excellence in learning and teaching in order to deliver a high quality student experience. As we move towards an academic vision for a digital campus this approach will bring together academic practice learning technologies and pedagogic research and will take a holistic and integrated approach to learning and teaching.
The project will help to deliver the vision for the University of Opportunity through initial and continuing professional development for staff involved in teaching and learning.
What the project hopes to achieve?
Through the College of learning and Teaching the success of this project will include:
- Increased engagement with senior leaders within the University for developing professional excellence in teaching and learning.
- Increased engagement of academic staff with professional excellence in teaching through bringing together academic practice learning technologies and pedagogic research through the College of Learning and Teaching.
- Further developing leadership skills for Course and Module Leaders focused on enhancement of the student experience.
- Improved specific student analytics on progression and attainment as detailed in the project objectives.
