What does a linguistic analysis of TEF tell us about the future nature of teaching in the social sciences? - HEA Annual Conference 2017 - Generation TEF: Teaching in the spotlight

The aim of the session is to cast a critical eye over terminology seen in the White Paper Success as a Knowledge Economy: Teaching Excellence Social Mobility and Student Choice (UK Department for Business Innovation & Skills 2016). Objectives include brief critical explorations of competition; market; sector; and student satisfaction within the social sciences. Drawing on Jerome Kagan’s Three Cultures (2009) a proposed framework for appraising the language employed in TEF will be set out.
