Grant-funded case studies from around the world will illustrate good practice in HE towards the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

22 Apr 2024 | Advance HE Advance HE 'Global Impact Grants' Grants’ have been awarded to 15 successful applicants from our global members.

Grants have been awarded to 15 successful applicants from Advance HE international member institutions and international membership beneficiaries to develop short case studies of recent practice that align to our grant theme of contributing to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs); and one of four subthemes: Education for sustainable development; supporting reduced inequality and sustainable inclusion; building future leaders; delivering strategic change in HE sustainability. 

The successful applicants are:  

  • Deakin University, Australia, A Tale of Data, Diversity, Equity, and Sustainability by Deakin University Reza Kachouie, Wendy Webber and Stephen Williams 
  • Deakin University, Australia, Equitable Insights: Deakins Student Mentorship Enhancing Staff Perspectives – Peter Ngigi and Cassandra Iannucci 
  • The British University in Egypt, COP Simulation – Professor Catherine Harper, Sahar Salama and Dr Sarah Elkhishin 
  • Frederick University, Cyprus, To all women and girls: join the journey in engineering and technology – Natassa Frederickou and Irene Angastinioti 
  • Monash University, Australia. Global Immersion Guarantee Programme – Dr Gabriel Garcia Ochoa, Dr Sarah Gosper, Dr Louise Barren and Ms Katy Condict 
  • National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, Taiwan – Entrepreneurship for Exclusive Innovation: Advancing Sustainable Development Goals in Entrepreneurship Education Dr Sirirat Sae Lim  
  • The University of Adelaide, Australia, Utilising asynchronous polling to widen participation and develop a sense of belonging in an online course – Dr Samantha Newell and Simona Padvelskyte 
  • Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, China, Chatbot-Powered Learning for Sustainable Education in Programming – Dr Erick Purwanto et al 
  • University of Newcastle, Australia, Preservice teachers linking quality education to sustainable development in authentic local and global contexts – Dr Kate Ferguson-Patrick 
  • The University of Hong Kong, Partnering with students in climate education: HKU Climate Ambassador – Dr Janet Chanet et al 
  • Charles Sturt University, Australia, Using a Community Mental Health Experience Program to connect health students with experts by experience – Latitia Kernaghan et al 
  • Abu Dhabi University, United Arab Emirates, Sustainability, Architecture and the City Workshop – Apostolos Kyriazis, Sas Clarke and James Burns 
  • Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia, Advancing Sustainable Healthcare: Assessing the Immediate Impact of Planetary Health Education on Medical Students – Steffi Tan, Maria Lee and Joanna Matthan 
  • The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia, Empowering Female Cybersecurity Leaders: Bridging the Gender Gap in Cybersecurity Education – Xiaoning (Maggie) Liu 
  • Curtin University Malaysia, Unveiling the Power of Personalized Learning: A Journey Towards Inclusive Education – Noraisikin Sabani and Dr Anita Jimmie.
