Ebony Carberry MEd, and MA (Hons) Popular Culture, is Strategy Manager and Associate Lecturer for The Open University in Scotland working out of the Edinburgh office.

She is tasked with developing and contributing to EDI policies, procedures, initiatives, and in reporting on multiple areas of under-representation in our staff and student bodies.

In this capacity, Ebony is responsible for delivering on a range of EDI activities - with a particular focus on Gender-Based Violence, Race Equality, the Public Sector Duty Report and, working closely with DeafAction Scotland, she is the BSL Lead Officer delivering on the institutional BSL Action Plan 2018-2024.  Ebony has a particular interest in Language and Literacy Studies, Linguistics, and Transformative Education; she was recently appointed as a researcher for the Wellbeing, Education and Language Studies (WELS) Faculty-led  ‘Praxis Project: bridging the awarding gap for students from under-represented groups in Level 1 modules’.
