Director of the Learning and Teaching Academy, Heriot-Watt University
Professor Martha Caddell is Director of the Learning and Teaching Academy at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. She leads on university policy and practice in learning and teaching, support for academic development, and pedagogic research, scholarship and evaluation. Martha is Deputy Chair of the QAA Scotland Enhancement Theme (2017-20) on Evidence for Enhancement: Improving the Student Experience and led the Theme’s Collaborative Cluster on Enhancing Programme Leadership.
Martha has extensive experience of online and distance education, gained through many years with The Open University. Her academic background is in the anthropology of education, with a focus on education for development and schooling and higher education in the context of political conflict and change.
