Irene Byrne

Irene joined Advance HE in November 2022. As National Adviser, Irene updates charter resources in response to sector changes, good practice developments and external policy context. She provides specialist knowledge and advice to Athena Swan applicants, develops training and workshops, and facilitates peer-review assessment panels. She works with Irish higher education institutions and relevant external agencies to provide guidance on issues and queries relating to Athena Swan.

Irene previously worked in the Community and Voluntary Sector in the areas of policy development, social research, and communications, with a focus on housing, income adequacy, poverty and social exclusion.
