The Academic and Digital Skills Team delivers a support service for all students at the university. Centrally located in the university libraries, the team is spread across three geographic locations in London and Kent. The team is made up of 17 staff, mainly librarians and academic skills tutors. There are two administrative staff, a team manager and a sub-team of student mentors, called Digital Champions. Together, the team develops, delivers and curates a range of activities for students of every level and discipline across the university.

Located in Library Services (LS), which is part of the Information and Library Services (ILS) Directorate, the team works flexibly, developing services and resources in response to wherever there is a need for them. As a result, the team often works collaboratively in temporary teams with co-creators such as faculty academic staff, students and other university departments. Its location alongside other library teams and IT departments benefits the team, as this allows them to work in extended teams comprising LS and ILS colleagues who provide specialist support such as comms tasks and expert skills in digital and technology-enhanced learning. In the five years it has been operational, the Academic and Digital Skills Team has transformed the way students are supported in their learning through innovative and successful initiatives that have benefited students and staff across the university and globally.

The team has made a positive impact on the student experience by developing new initiatives, enhancing existing services, and changing and streamlining university processes. The team has won awards for its exceptional commitment and services to students: Outstanding Team of the Year (2022), Vice-Chancellor's NSS Award for Outstanding Professional Services (2022), Greenwich Student Union Award for Professional Support Service of the Year (2022).
