When faced with uncertainty we recognise that it is important leaders feel confident to lead with agility and plan to implement change effectively. Our support encourages institutions to examine and reframe their organisational cultures to enable performance through staff expertise, supporting student success and aligning to shared strategies and goals. We support you to foster an environment enabling productive, committed teams and individuals to thrive. We support you in the development of a strategic framework which is both stretching and adaptive, and having the mechanisms to realise your strategy.

Doug Parkin, Principal Adviser for Leadership and Management at Advance HE explains our approach to strategy development and transforming culture.

Developing your strategy
Institutions, large and small, are today having to be strategically responsive to a multitude of external and internal factors, some of which can be forecast whilst others are hard if not impossible to predict. We can support you to both develop and adapt a visionary strategy robust enough to withstand uncertainties in the external environment, but also implement and embed strategies into action across the organisation.
Our approach to strategy development is grounded in theory and practice, and recognises that sustainable change combines horizon scanning and creative thinking with a detailed planning process and in turn leading to actions to implement change.
Transforming culture
Culture is a central aspect of successful transformational change and we understand it is important institutions are able to adapt with agility to meet strategic needs.
The sector has faced, and will continue to grapple with, the need for rapid change in light of the external environment. Advance HE’s support encourages strategic agility in reframing your purpose and the delivery of core activities for future success. We believe transforming culture and cultural perceptions within organisations provides the true essence of sustainable strategic change.
TestimonialWhen I spoke with the team there, they listened to our needs, learned more about our context and designed and delivered this programme. Having worked with them for over 12 months now I have learned that they also bring a flexibility and responsiveness to the context making this not only a bespoke and fit for purpose programme from the start but one that has evolved with our changing needs.”Professor Sherria Hoskins
