The Teaching Excellence Programme (TEP) supports, develops and inspires excellence in teaching.
Aimed at experienced academic staff, the programme combines a series of interactive masterclasses with a coaching programme, offering participants the space and time to critically reflect on their practice.
The interactive nature of the programme brings together theory, knowledge from the sector and practical ideas for change that can be applied to the participants’ practice.
The masterclass series (four half-day workshops) brings together theory, knowledge from the sector and practical ideas for change that can be applied to participants’ practice. Peer learning and sharing of solutions are actively encouraged.
Masterclass content is flexible and can be tailored to specific staff requirements but typically includes some or all of the following topics:
- student engagement in learning
- developing autonomous learners
- successful engagement of the non-traditional learner
- creative module development.
The coaching sessions run alongside the masterclasses, informing and reinforcing delegates’ learning and development as they progress through the programme.
My appreciation of the complexity of issues such as assessment, access, retention and employability has been strengthened as a result of the Teaching Excellence Programme.
