Project Title: Study Smart: Staff and students co-constructing AI literacy at UON

Project Summary:
This project explores the challenges and benefits associated with the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence (AI) within teaching and learning at UON. There is a need to adapt our expectations and pedagogies in response to the rise of AI tools. Staff and students from FHES, FAST, FBL and LLS collaborate to evaluate and embed AI tools in their teaching and learning through a co-creation approach involving a series of 6 staff workshops across 5 key themes.
Other outputs include an interactive wheel of AI tools linked to examples from practice and a set of ethical guidelines.
Project theme objectives: Learning and Teaching: to contribute to the University strategy Assessment and feedback: to ensure assessments are valid, reliable and inclusive creativity and employability: to identify AI tools that facilitate creativity in a range of media Diversity and Inclusion: to create accessible, personalised learning through AI Ethics: to address concerns related to intellectual property and academic integrity.
Impact: To foster AI literacy among staff and students, bridging knowledge gaps relating to AI tools and pedagogic strategies so that AI can be embedded to impact outcomes positively whilst maintaining high ethical standards.
