Project Title: Using AI to engender critical thinking in session planning and design
The project is: About to start
Project Summary:
This is a small-scale project involving new academics, who are taking part in an in-house programme to develop their teaching and learning skills. We are using AI to generate materials for discussion and critique to develop greater criticality around session planning and design. Generative AI will be used in different ways: - To produce lesson plans for groups of new colleagues to discuss, critique and improve in a number of different ways.
To produce content/stimuli for sessions to use with students; - And for colleagues to introduce to students and ask them to use them to generate content around different themes for analysis and evaluation. All of these activities are intended to support new academics to develop critical thinking and problem-solving in their students, skills which are highly sought-after by employers (Kaplan, 2023 ). We will use different generative AI tools and compare, contrast and evaluate them in the light of our findings and outcomes.
Impact: Use of generative AI to help develop critical thinking in students.
Audience: Colleagues and students.
This output is part of a member project - AI Garage: Creating the Future Now which collects and curates cutting-edge practice examples of AI. You can explore other submissions here.
