The accented curriculum: How to move beyond the anglophone-biased and received pronunciation (RP) curriculum design - HEA Annual Conference 2017 - Generation TEF: Teaching in the spotlight

This presentation reports on work in progress of my project: ‘the accented curriculum’. Inspired by Hamid Nacify’s study An Accented Cinema (2001) my aim is to introduce a new emphasis on research about diversity and internationalisation in HEIs: the role of accents (foreign and regional) of students and staff both in the classroom and in syllabus content. My objective is to develop a toolkit that facilitates collaboration between students to co-create an ‘accented curriculum’ mainly in the disciplines of Media Studies and Performing Arts and within the context of inclusive learning and teaching
