Adherence and Participation Factors in Personal Development Planning

In order to overcome this challenge a deeper understanding of learners' perspectives on PDP is needed so that the PDP environment and PDP support can be tailored according to individual needs. This project was designed to gain further insight about factors likely to improve rates of PDP participation and to develop a method of identifying the PDP needs of individual learners.

Objectives

The two objectives of this study were to:

  1. Identify the antecedent motivational factors among learners that relate to their intention to engage with PDP and their actual engagement with PDP.
  2. Develop a questionnaire that can be used to identify learners' PDP needs and support them based upon their motivational profile.
