Brunel University London - Improving transition from school/college to university - Strategic Excellence Initiative

What the project is?

Brunel University London is proud of the diversity of its student body and accepts students with varying entry qualifications. With funding from the HEA we are running a project aimed at improving transition into the University. Departmental and Student Champions in each academic department will inform enhancement to our existing structured support mechanisms across the University as well as programme design and development. Piloting and evaluating the success of new and improved interventions will allow us to reflect on our best practice and support larger-scale initiatives across the institution in the future.

What the project hopes to achieve?

This project will allow us to trial new activity and develop our support interventions to improve the transition from school and college to the University. By working in partnership academic departments and central services hope to create an improved consistency in academic support and the quality of learning opportunities for our students. We will evaluate and report on the impact of these interventions as well as share practical guides on implementing them for dissemination across the UK higher education sector.
