In this issue of MSOR Connections our contributors discuss a number of important themes.

Stephen Lee and Tom Button remind us of the ever-changing landscape of pre-university mathematics especially exciting initiatives around Further Mathematics. It is too easy to overlook important developments such as this at the transition to Higher Education. Cheryl Voake and her colleagues in Wales look at another aspect of transition – that from Further Education to Higher Education. This is an area that receives relatively little attention; the assessment of student awareness and preparedness and the conclusions drawn offer a useful contribution to our understanding.
