Facilitating and monitoring internationalisation of the curriculum at Hogeschool van Amsterdam

This presentation was delivered at the joint HEA/UKCISA Internationalisation of Pedagogy and Curriculum in Higher Education Conference that took place at the University of Warwick on 16th and 17th June 2011.

This presentation was delivered by Jos Beelen and Hans de Wit of Hogeschool van Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. The institution adopted a new policy for its internationalisation in November 2010. The new central internationalisation policy aims to move the international and intercultural dimension into the centre of teaching learning and research. It therefore focuses strongly on the internationalisation of the curriculum for all students.

While the central policy provides a framework by facilitating monitoring and stimulating the implementation is the task of each of the seven schools. Many schools deliver a wide range of programmes from Dutch medium bachelors to international (professional) masters. This presentation will focus on how central policy and decentralised operationalisation for internationalisation of the curriculum interact. The focus will be on the strategies adopted for facilitating and monitoring.
