What the project is?
Falmouth University have noticed a growing demand from across the private public and voluntary sectors for support to help them look more creatively at their operations and services. Many of those who have approached Falmouth believe that significant elements of content taught in business schools is now freely available and easily accessible from media resources and there is a lack of creativity being displayed.
Faced with pressure of an economic competitive social and environmental nature these sectors are looking for alternative ways of thinking which will work alongside traditional business learning resources. Creativity can not be automated and this project aims to address this issue.
What the project aims to achieve?
Falmouth University recently launched a pilot postgraduate entrepreneurship programme called Falmouth Launchpad. The project offers postgraduate students the opportunity to study for a Masters in Entrepreneurship and with the help of investment they can set up their own company to meet an identified market need in the Digital Games and Entertainment sector.
The pilot spearheaded by Falmouth’s Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Professor Anne Carlisle has had a great level of success. The University aspires to give the students appropriate and productive connections to industries outside of the creative sector to improve their graduates’ overall employability.
With assistance from the HEA initiative Falmouth is hoping to strengthen their postgraduate entrepreneurship initiative education model by gathering together and sharing best practice in applying different skills.
