Impact Study: Improving the employability of Engineering students through e-mentoring

A case study to demonstrate the impact of the HEA's Teaching Development Grant programme.

Loughborough University applied for a Teaching Development Grant to establish an e-mentoring project to address difficulties in finding employment presented by limited exposure to practice Supported by online technologies such as Skype social media and email the scheme seeks to reinstate the role of the Industrial Tutor. In the process it aims to develop test and evaluate the benefits of e-mentoring and provide evidence for an improved curriculum aimed at employability. If successful it will create a transferable scheme for the adoption of e-mentoring by other universities and disciplines.
