Innovation in teaching and learning in health higher education

‘Innovation in teaching and learning in health higher education’ is a joint project between the Council of Deans of Health (CoDH) and the Higher Education Academy (HEA). It aims to explore and showcase best practice of innovation in healthcare teaching and learning and to promote and encourage the exchange and uptake of innovative ideas. It is situated in an important current policy climate of ensuring a competent and caring healthcare workforce for the future.

In its first year the project is facilitating exchange of learning on innovation in healthcare higher education through a literature review a UK-wide data collection of innovative practice (including a number of in-depth case studies) and through connecting professionals in healthcare higher education through an emerging innovation network.

It is envisaged that in its second year the project will build this network for further reach and impact bringing together case studies in a database and expanding on this database to draw on international perspectives.

As well as inspiring and facilitating new thinking around teaching and learning within higher education institutions the project also has the potential to impact the policy landscape showcasing higher education innovation in a number of key policy domains such as widening participation recruitment and user/carer engagement.
