This is the first published report on the research on the Advance HE Top Management Programme undertaken by Ulster University Business School. TMP is the flagship development programme of UK higher education, with an alumni of over 800, including 70 of the current vice-chancellors.
This research is one of the first studies in the UK to focus on senior leadership development and its effectiveness across university settings. The research began in 2016 and is taking place across four years. Over the course of the study the team will track the outcomes of and impacts of TMP as well as acquire an insight into the factors which influence career choice, progression and promotion over the time among this group of senior leaders in higher education. This paper the presents the findings from the first stage of the study.
