A chapter from the HEA's publication Enhancing education for sustainable development in Business and Management Hospitality Leisure Marketing Tourism.

Described in this chapter are the development and evolution of a portfolio of course units with the aim of creating global change agents. This work is based on the premise that students need an understanding of other disciplines and ways of thinking alongside the ability to work as part of a diverse team in order to be effective change agents for sustainable development in their professional careers. The units focus on problem-based learning (PBL) as a means of enabling interdisciplinary sustainable development. The course units develop undergraduate and postgraduate students’ understanding through the use of active student-led learning and real-world challenges.
