Student learning through real-world real-time sustainability audits

This presentation was delivered at the Interdisciplinary Sustainability Education: Insights Momentum and Futures event held at the Higher Education Academy in York on 14th December 2011. The event shared findings from eight inter-disciplinary ESD projects funded in 2010 by the HE Academy.

Dr Ros Taylor director of the Kingston University Sustainability Hub gave this presentation about a HEA funded interdisciplinary sustainability education project. The project was a reflective evaluation of a Sustainability Hub initiative to have undergraduates and post graduate doing courses related to sustainability offer local businesses sustainability audits. It was perceived the initiative was beneficial for everyone and the reflective evaluation aimed to build a factual basis to verify these perceptions. The reflective analysis took the form of statistical analysis of previous cohorts’ achievements student focus groups interviews and focus groups with employers and in-depth analysis of current participants; students client employers and staff.
